HERO JUST BROKE THE INTERNET WITH ITS DECJUBA ‘PUFFER PLANE’.

HERO and Australian fashion retailer DECJUBA have sent the world’s social media into meltdown, fitting an entire Boeing 787 with its own custom D-LUXE puffer-jacket. The clip of the aptly named ‘D-LUXE Puffer Plane’ rolling into Melbourne airport has amassed over 30 million views in its first week of release, seeing the Puffer Plane circumnavigate the globe on social media quicker than you can say “is that for real?!”

Of course, it’s not real but a crazy-convincing 3D-rendered animation which has had Instagram and TikTokkers from Melbourne to Milan marvelling at just how life-like it is. Users commented “LOL how did they get that puffer on that plane?” and “can that thing even fly?!” as they tried to work out whether it was a real stunt.

DECJUBA owner and CEO Tania Austin commented, “Our puffers are an iconic brand favourite, so we wanted to find a new and playful way to let customers know our new D-LUXE Puffers have landed in store and online. HERO came up with this idea and we loved it!

Austin continued, “It’s been amazing to see the positive response from our launch take off with our customers. There are so many innovative opportunities we can explore in this space, and we are excited to share what’s next for our brands.”

The clip shows the puffer-clad plane arriving at its airport gate, to the surprise of the startled passengers waiting inside the terminal. Commenting on the technical challenges of achieving such a realistic render, Creative Chairman of HERO Ben Lilley said “The idea of showing a plane in a puffer was simple enough, but achieving such a life-like animation was a real creative challenge. The plane and puffer are ground-up 3D animations that have been superimposed onto the empty airport tarmac. Getting the lighting, shadows, sound and all aspects of this animation just right were critical to making it so believable. That people are so convinced is a real credit to our animators. It’s definitely taken off!”
